Why I Vote Anti-Republican

Although I sometimes think the reasons number in the thousands it really boils down to this for me (in no particular order):

  1. They seem to believe that we, the dominant species on Earth, bear no responsibility for the preservation of its life supporting qualities. This is not just stupid, it’s suicidal! See this quote from Republican Congressman John Shimkus of Illinois. Another dandy is this interview of Ann Coulter by Sean Hannity.
  2. They insist on supply-side, “trickle down” economic policies despite the overwhelming evidence showing the inefficacy of such policies, especially in an economic down turn. They present no evidence on their side of the argument and I have been unable to find any for them through diligent investigation. They always just rest their argument on the authority of Reagan, who, if I may remind you, was an actor, not an economist.
  3. They have allowed their party to by hijacked by religious special interest groups ever since Jerry Falwell‘s Moral Majority. The Moral Majority movement may have ended officially in 1989 but it set a pattern of kowtowing to the xtian extremists in our society that continues to this day. Don’t believe me? Give me another credible explanation for John McCain’s pick of Sarah Palin for his running mate. Since he was viewed as a “moderate” he had to throw the Republican “base” a bone by picking one of them, another xtian extremist.

Everything else they do is neither here nor there. Especially right now they are purely pursuing any political expediency they can to try to breath life back into their party. Although I have voted Republican in the past, because I believe in fiscal conservatism and used to believe they were also for it, I will continue to vote anti-Republican as long as the three points above remain. If, in their re-invention, they change those views I will reconsider, but I think it highly unlikely.

Compared to the Democratic Party’s occasional tendency of voting itself bread and circuses the Republicans stand out as clearly the worse of two evils. To be clear, I’m not advocating voting the Democratic ticket in all cases, just eliminating any Republicans from consideration until their party mends its policies. Please, by all means, vote your conscience and vote for a Green, Libertarian, Communist, or other party candidate if you choose. As long as its not a close race with a Republican in contention. How many RPMs do you think Lincoln is doing right now?

Oh yeah, and former President George H. W. Bush thinking that I am neither a patriot nor even a citizen because I don’t share his belief in his imaginary friend still pisses me off every time I think about it. Read this. What a fucking retard!
